But what does that mean? In those days, they didn't have refrigerators and freezers. The primary purpose of salt was to preserve food from going bad. Jesus told his followers that there purpose was to preserve societry from corruption.

1 John 3:4 says, "Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness."
Some Christians redefine sin to say that the only sin is "rejecting Jesus". But that is opposed to what the scriptures, and common sense would tell you.

Many people quote 1 John 1:8 to comfort them in their sins. But they fail to quote the powerful verses of 1 John, chapter 3, which is strictly against any notion of the believer sinning. In context, 1 John 1:8 is referring to past sins.
